Trelona Advanced Termite Baiting System – How It Works?

Trelona Advanced Termite Baiting System (ATBS), unlike many of its predecessors in the industry, have far surpassed the standards when it comes to Termite Colony Eradications and Complete Home Protection against Termites.
The Trelona Bait Stations are a complete termite protection unit which are installed around the perimeter of the property in order to safeguard the structure and internal timbers from Termite Attacks . These stations are installed into soil beds or concrete and contain an Always Active chemical canister that last on average between 3 and 5 years, which once consumed, start to kill off and transfer throughout the attacking termite colony.
These stations contain Always Active technology, meaning they are constantly working throughout the life span 24/7. The effective active chemical ‘Novaluron’ which are contained in these bait canisters are a game changer. Highly effective modes of transfer from worker termites feeding throughout the colony and how little consumption is required from the bait compared to other competitors’ baits, in order to effectively and successfully eradicate the attacking termite colony time and time again.

How Often Should These Be Monitored ?

The canisters have a life of 3-5 years, this depends on the moisture content of soil and surrounding environment. An annual inspection is ideal and strongly recommended, but some properties may require their inspections more often such as semi-annually depending on each property’s unique setting and location. Canisters are cheap to replace when needed, and the costs of maintenance are usually less than $198.00 per year.

How does the Active Chemical Novaluron Work?

Each canister contains a total of 5g/kg of Novaluron and each station holds up to 248 grams of bait. Termites never sleep and are always foraging for their next meal. The way the product and the containing bait works, is to entice the termites prior to feeding on your home, to instead target the stations and commencing the process of trophallaxis. Trophallaxis is the transfer of chemical messages and nutrients between termites (basically the work termites, feed on the baits and transfer throughout the colony and eventually to the queen, thus eradicating them all).

Novaluron takes effect over a few days of ingestions which is why it’s so effective with termites. Considering a colony of thousands upon thousands of termites, distribution of the chemical takes time. The combination of trophallaxis and slow-active chemicals becomes a deadly mix of successful eradication for surrounding termites.

Why should I have a Termite Protection System?

Majority of Insurance companies do not offer any services or protection/guarantees against termites as these insects are extremely effective and go unnoticed for many months working around the clock 24/7, with no breaks in order to recycle the timber used within a home in your walls, floors and ceiling. This can be extremely detrimental to the structural integrity of the home as termites essentially weaken the timber frames which support the home as these very timbers are consumed as food for termites and distributed throughout the colony.
Insurance companies know the destruction and costs associated with termites having done so much damage in so little time. The process of having structural engineers, builders, carpenters and laborers strip, remove, and replace the damaged areas can be extremely costly which is why these insects and their damage are excluded from most policies.
A termite bait system is your best line of defense at protecting one of your biggest assets, you would purchase car insurance, home and content insurance but in most cases a Termite insurance is left to last or forgotten, it is in most cases the cheapest insurance of them all and can save you thousands over the course of its lifespan, not to mention are seen as an asset for potential buyers as it brings that peace of mind from hidden termite colony attacks and most importantly, protects the structure from termites!
